THREE Heatons

Our Family

INTRODUCING, the long awaited......

Our little man is beautiful!!!

On August 21, 2009, we made our way to the hospital. And after a morning of hanging around and waiting for lab results, we were admited to the labor and delivery ward. My water had broken, and we were settling in for the day. At 6:15 pm, we had an addition to our family.

Joshua Michael Heaton

6 pounds, 15.3 ounces
20 inches long

We're thrilled, and learning quite a bit from this little guy. He's really good at sleeping during the day, and wants to be up much more often when all is dark and quiet. His fingers and toes are long, and we're constantly trying new things to get nursing down. I know I have a long way to go, but Joshua is thriving despite less successful sessions.

7 days?

Well, we're settling in GA, and time is ticking by. We attended a child-labor class over the weekend, and have assembled our little crib. For days and days, one of the assignments Benjamin has given me is to pack my hospital bag, so it's ready to go. It's still not done. But it's closer. I get so distracted when I work on it.

I'm doing great. I'm feeling bigger and bigger. And still have plenty of movement in my gut. I'm so excited and anxious to meet this little guy. Last night, while praying, Benjamin asked that our son and I can keep from fighting for the last bit of the pregnancy. When I asked him about it after our prayer, he laughed and said the baby keeps kicking me too hard, and I keep poking back. He considers that a fight.

Last week, Benjamin was downtown every day for orientation and trainings for his graduate program. Monday was the first day of school for him. I think he's really excited for his classes, and is looking forward to the class he will teach. If only a long day didn't end with a commute.

We're also looking for a house!!! We've been getting excited about buying a place of our own when we started Benjamin's graduate program, and now's the time to pounce on the opportunity. We know we'll be here for a number of years, and the idea of getting a foreclosure and putting the necessary fixings into it is a great bargin in today's buyer's market. I've learned a lot, and we're hoping to still have some solid time to find a place now that classes have started.

At my doctor's appointment yesterday, I was told things can pick up pace anytime! I'm dialated a couple centimeters already, and they'll just wait for me to call the office and tell them that contractions are coming regularly and often. Nothing to report yet, but I've been thinking about it for over 24 hours by now. Anytime? It's CRAZY to wait around for. We'll be in touch with news of our THIRD family member.
